WHAT IS A DEATH DOULA?

WHAT IS A DEATH DOULA?

A death doula is a person who acts as a support system and advocate for individuals processing the end of life in any capacity. They guide, aid and empower a person and their loved ones in the death and dying process. Death is one of the most profound acts we will perform in this human existence, why not do it with consciousness and intention?

What does your ideal death look like?

How can this time be made to feel the most sacred, rewarding and peaceful?

What anxieties and fears could be examined?

These are all concepts a death doula creates the space to explore. There is immense beauty in the dying process- a doula’s mission is to encourage the dying and their loved ones to come into presence and power, as to experience that beauty fully.

ABOUT REBECCA

It was in a crystal shop in Silver Lake that Rebecca was first introduced to the idea of the death doula. As a friend described it, she heard somebody say,

"I'm going to become one."

Rebecca looked around to see who it was, and quickly realized that they were the only two people in the shop. She had been the one that spoke, the words falling out of her mouth without her even realizing it.

Since then, Rebecca has honored the voice that spoke through her, completing trainings with INELDA, studying under Rev. Olivia Bareham of Sacred Crossings Death Midwifery Institute, and spending extensive time in Mexico connecting with the cultural and spiritual beliefs around death and dying.

She utilizes a variety of healing modalities in her practice, including EFT, plant medicine, guided meditations, rituals, tarot, grief counseling and a steadfast willingness to turn toward the uncomfortable and unknown.

Rebecca is available for in-person sessions in Southern California and the Tri-state area, as well as other parts of the country on a case-by-case basis.

All faiths and belief systems are respected and honored.
